Interview with EUN JI SHIM : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. EUN JI SHIM : An existing seatbelt is not designed to consider abdominal size of pregnant women. Since their abdominal size is greater than people in general, more pressure is exerted on their abdomen in case of a car accident which can be more painful and even critical for the life of a fetus. .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. EUN JI SHIM : In order to resolve this potential problem, this seatbelt is grooved which gives more flexibility than the existing seatbelt, so it fits securely and decentralizes the pressure exerting to the abdomen of pregnant women. .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. EUN JI SHIM : I want develop a product. .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. EUN JI SHIM : Two years. .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. EUN JI SHIM : I am experience inconvenience. .Frank Scott: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?. EUN JI SHIM : I do intent to produce my work myself. .Frank Scott: What made you design this particular type of work?. EUN JI SHIM : When this seatbelt is not in use, the groove of the belt is constricted, rolled back in to a buckle, and sharp part of the plate is circled to the opposite site to close, so the belt can be stored firmly. .Frank Scott: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?. EUN JI SHIM : That mean is seatbelt for the pregnant woman. .Frank Scott: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?. EUN JI SHIM : Rhinoceros 5 .Frank Scott: What is the most unique aspect of your design?. EUN JI SHIM : Seatbelt is Mesh. .Frank Scott: Who did you collaborate with for this design?
