Farmers Den
Farmers Den is an office landscape design located in Gandhinagar, India. The layout follows a simple grid plan, and the building is raised slightly on a platform that flows into the surrounding landscape and water channels. Local yellow sandstone is used for its color and texture under changing sunlight. Native tree species and insect repellent plants are combined with water, fish and turtles to form a small ecosystem. Raised mounds and tall trees shade the southwest side from strong heat. Openings in the breakout wall guide the breeze over the water to cool the cabins.
Farmers Den Office by The Grid Architects has been identified as an exceptional example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Farmers Den Office received the Silver A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design in 2020. The A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design prize which honors excellent design of landscape designs, public parks, residential gardens, urban plazas, campus designs, green roofs, waterfront developments, Eco-Parks, botanical gardens and more.
