Shadow
Shadow is a multifunctional lifesaving blanket designed to help people displaced by conflict, climate events and other emergencies. Shadow combines three functions: a buoyancy aid, a warming blanket and a simple sleeping bag. A buoyancy sponge inside the product provides about 90 newtons of support in water, and a waterproof inner layer keeps important documents dry. An aluminium film lining reflects body heat to retain warmth. High-frequency heat sealing makes the product strong and watertight. Elastic bands allow quick folding for carrying and fast unfolding when needed.
Shadow Multifunctional Lifesaving Blanket by Xudong Cai was recognized as an innovative example of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Shadow Multifunctional Lifesaving Blanket won the Iron A' Design Award in Safety Clothing and Personal Protective Equipment Design in 2020. The A' Safety Clothing and Personal Protective Equipment Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which recognizes exceptional design of helmets, gloves, goggles, respirators, earplugs, safety boots, High-Visibility clothing, face shields and more.
