Nus
Nus is a residential house located in Crete, Greece. A U shaped main volume is combined with an underground guest house. Both volumes maximize southeast exposure and respond to the changing angle of the sun through the seasons. Two solar spaces, one with fixed shading and one with rotating blinds and a mass wall, allow natural heating and cooling. A green roof, water surfaces, a ventilation shaft and controlled roof openings improve thermal comfort. Photovoltaic panels, solar water heaters and a geothermal system reduce the energy footprint.
Nus Residential House by Parti Architecture Architecture Office was identified as an outstanding example of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Nus Residential House earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design prize that recognizes excellent design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
