The Renovation of Ankang Library
The original Ankang Library was opened in 1984, and it’s facilities had fallen behind the information age before the renovation. The renovation project has rejuvenated the old library into a new, open and welcoming community space, highlighting and creating a strong contrast with its existing context. Since opening, the new library has reactivated the cultural life of the local community, and the number of daily visitors has increased from 10 people to 3,000 people.
The Renovation of Ankang Library Building by United Units Architects (UUA) has been featured as an exceptional illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. The Renovation of Ankang Library Building was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design accolade that recognizes exceptional design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
