Furniture Pavilion S
Furniture Pavilion S is a temporary furniture showroom designed for a trade fair in Shanghai. The pavilion covers 150 square metres and is built from 821 pieces of prefabricated standard size plywood, which allow assembly or disassembly on site within 48 hours. Steel forms the rest of the structure, and the hyperboloid roof is covered with semi-transparent tensile fabric that spreads sunlight evenly. Stacked modular plywood units also serve as display coves. After the exhibition, the pavilion was transformed into 410 sets of tables and chairs for a nearby community.
Furniture Pavilion S Showroom by Zuoqian Wang, Dan He was selected as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Furniture Pavilion S Showroom earned the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design prize which rewards outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
