Skylight
Skylight is a sales center in Yiwu, China, covering an area of 600 square meters. The interior space is deep, and the building has no large glass curtain wall, so natural light inside was limited. Skylights were added in the roof to bring daylight into the interior. The form of the skylights refers to the caisson ceiling, a decorative element of traditional Chinese architecture, based on an abstracted well shape. Traditional materials and methods were used to complete the project at a limited cost.
Skylight Sales Center by Kris Lin has been featured as a creative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Skylight Sales Center was awarded the Golden A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design competition which honors outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
