Sustainable
This is a single-family residence design based on a site in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The goal was to design a sustainable living space in one of the most populated, polluted, and busiest cities in the world. Because of rapid urbanization and overpopulation, Dhaka has very little green space left. To make the residence self-sustainable, spaces from the rural area like the courtyard, semi-outdoor space, pond, deck, etc are introduced. There is a green terrace with every function which will act as an outdoor interaction space and protect the building from pollutions.
Sustainable Single Family Residence by Nahian Bin Mahbub has been featured as a creative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Sustainable Single Family Residence earned the Iron A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition which celebrates outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
