Let Parents Stay Anti-poverty Social Design

Let Parents Stay

Let Parents Stay is a typeface based on traditional Han Embroidery, created to support a poverty-stricken village. Jinling Village is home to more than two thousand children left behind by working parents, and many residents are skilled in Han Embroidery. Local embroidery products sold poorly because the patterns had changed little for a hundred years. Classic embroidery elements were abstracted and reconstructed into modern letterforms, which local embroiderers stitch by hand. The aim is to create income and to pass the craft on in a modern visual language.

Let Parents Stay Anti-poverty Social Design by Yu Chen was highlighted as an exceptional representation of communication design by the A' Design Award. Let Parents Stay Anti-poverty Social Design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2021. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition that honors exceptional design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
