Nha Nhim
Nha Nhim is a homestay building in Da Lat, Viet Nam. The narrow site is about 8 metres wide and much longer, with uneven terrain and weak soil. All elements are lifted to widen the living space and to open views toward the valley. Waste materials from the area are collected and reused throughout the building. Bark, branches and test concrete blocks are given a new life, and offcuts from local textile factories are recycled into different parts. A large sloping roof blocks cold night wind and lets cool breezes pass during the day.
Nha Nhim Homestay by Vu Hoang Kha was selected as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Nha Nhim Homestay was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design accolade which recognizes outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
