Silicon
Silicon is a semi automatic infusion dosing system that controls the flow rate and the duration of intravenous medication. A mechanical timer and a flow rate valve are placed above and below the infusion tube, so medical staff can set the required drip rate and time without mental calculation. When the dose is complete, the valve switches to a physiological saline mode and the injection continues, which reduces the risk of errors during busy periods. Silicon needs no electricity and can therefore serve areas with limited medical resources.
Silicon Infusion Dosing System by Sheng-Lun Huang was selected as a creative example of communication design by the A' Design Award. Silicon Infusion Dosing System won the Silver A' Design Award in Idea and Conceptual Design in 2021. The A' Idea and Conceptual Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design prize that honors excellent design of innovations, prototypes, blueprints, sketches, models, concepts, brainstorms, proposals and more.
