Dark Gold
Dark Gold is a restaurant interior design of 86 square meters, completed in Tainan, Taiwan. Gold tones are set against dark surfaces to create a strong visual contrast. The decorated walls combine panels of different sizes and heights, and dark curtains are inserted to give the space depth. A side wall is covered with grey straight slabs with burning veins. Gold sticks and black mirrors are placed at random. Pentagon lighting bars direct gold beams onto the central table, formed by merging two large round tables, so the chef can interact with the guests.
Dark Gold Restaurant by Yu-Cheng Chen was highlighted as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Dark Gold Restaurant received the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design accolade which recognizes superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
