W Horse Stud
W Horse Stud is a vacation house designed for a 10000 square metre site in the Wafra agricultural area of Kuwait. The house is raised 140 centimetres above the ground to open views over the surrounding horse paddocks. The plan is divided into two axes. One axis holds the horse stable. The other holds the bedrooms, dining area and large living area facing the swimming pool. A 40 metre terrace is shaded by a 3 metre cantilevered roof for protection from the sun and sand. Construction uses insulated lightweight blocks, glass, a concrete structure and a lightweight steel roof.
W Horse Stud Villa by Fahad Alhumaidi has been identified as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. W Horse Stud Villa won the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design accolade that celebrates outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
