Dongguan CBD Parking Building
Dongguan Garage Building is a multi-storey parking structure in Dongguan, China. The design is inspired by the meandering water bodies of the city and by the central location of the site. Two major streets are extended as flowing ribbons that spiral upward and intertwine, forming an image similar to an urban sculpture. A white ribbon facade made of glass fibre reinforced concrete wraps the volume. A spiral ramp with sloping floors raises parking efficiency, and a central atrium improves natural ventilation. The aim is to reform disordered parking conditions nearby.
Dongguan CBD Parking Building Garage by Guowei Zhang was highlighted as a grand example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Dongguan CBD Parking Building Garage was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2022. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program that honors exceptional design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
