Doaba Dhaba
Doaba Dhaba is a sustainable food packaging system designed for a cloud kitchen in India. Main dishes are packed in handis, clay pots handcrafted by local artisans, closed with a clay lid and a label tied around the neck. Flatbreads such as rotis and naans are wrapped in freshly cut banana leaves tied with jute thread. Both items are then placed in a bag made of recycled paper. The materials are biodegradable and replace single-use plastic. Deliveries are made by electric vehicles to reduce the carbon footprint.
Doaba Dhaba Sustainable Food Packaging by Akkshit Khattar has been recognized as a creative representation of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Doaba Dhaba Sustainable Food Packaging received the Bronze A' Design Award in Sustainable Products, Projects and Green Design in 2022. The A' Sustainable Products, Projects and Green Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design competition that recognizes outstanding design of sustainable projects, environment friendly designs, recycled, upcycled, bio-degradable products, Energy-Efficient appliances and more.
