Companionship of Wellbeing
Companionship of Wellbeing is a private house designed for multi-generational living in the suburbs of Taichung, Taiwan. The house extends a building more than forty years old, joining new and old parts into one structure. Flexible and accessible spaces allow caregivers and the people they care for to live under one roof while privacy is kept on each side. Floor height differences of more than one meter were removed indoors and outdoors. Reinforced concrete integrates the walls, beams and columns. A jabuticaba tree in the original courtyard was preserved beside a green lawn.
Companionship of Wellbeing Private House by WEI-CHUN LIN was selected as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Companionship of Wellbeing Private House earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2022. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design award that rewards exceptional design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
