When The Present Meets The Past
When the Present Meets the Past is a restaurant interior design in Taoyuan city, Taiwan, completed in August 2015. The project renews an old local restaurant within a property of 198.34 square meters. The design draws on the style of Suzhou, China, and applies Chinese aesthetics to the dining space. The ceiling is integrated with a grille based on Chinese wood construction methods. Traditional Chinese wooden doors with carved window grilles divide the corridors and allow flexible use. Mirrored surfaces add visual width, and large murals depict traditional scenes.
When The Present Meets The Past Restaurant by Chun Chiao Wu has been recognized as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition.
