Alabear
Alabear is a gift box designed for the Chinese New Year of the Year of the Ox. The name comes from the Ningbo dialect, in which ala means our, so Alabear means our little bear. A bear mascot is the main design element, combined with images of the ox and the God of Wealth. The box measures 30 by 30 by 22 centimetres and holds red envelopes, spring couplets and a commemorative coin. The box is made of special paper, printed in CMYK with a red spot colour, and finished with bronzing and embossing.
Alabear Gift Box by Mao Ming was recognized as a creative example of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Alabear Gift Box earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2022. The A' Packaging Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award that recognizes excellent design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
