From the Forest of Rusk
From the Forest of Rusk is a packaging design for a rusk snack sold in supermarkets and mass retailers in Japan. The design is based on the world of a picture book and shows animals that live in the Forest of Rusk. Each animal character is formed from the rusk itself, photographed as an actual product rather than created with computer graphics. The size of the eyes, nose and mouth was adjusted in millimetres to make each character appealing. The package measures 140 by 210 by 40 millimetres. New animals can be added as new flavours are introduced.
From the Forest of Rusk Snacks by Shoichiro Takei has been featured as a creative example of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. From the Forest of Rusk Snacks received the Silver A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2022. The A' Packaging Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design recognition program which honors outstanding design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
