Flying to the Moon
Flying to the Moon is a gift box designed for moon cakes. The packaging takes the form of a traditional Chinese palace lantern. Circular illustrations draw on Chinese mythology and include the Jade Hare, the Moon Palace and the Apsaras of the Dunhuang murals. A multi-layer three-dimensional structure and a die-cutting process add visual depth. Once the moon cakes are removed, an LED module in the base can be switched on and the transparent PVC case and the hollowed-out outer case can be reinstalled, turning the box into a decorative lantern.
Flying to the Moon Gift Box by ShenZhen XiShang Boutique Packing Co., Ltd has been highlighted as an innovative representation of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Flying to the Moon Gift Box received the Silver A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2022. The A' Packaging Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design award which recognizes exceptional design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
