The Swing Chair
The Swing Chair is a seat inspired by the swing. The design responds to body movement and creates a dynamic interaction for relaxation and play. The seat and backrest are flexible and adjustable, so they follow the preferred sitting positions and movements of the user. The angle between seat and backrest can change from 120 to 133 degrees. The structure is a cube of 61x61x61 centimeters. Oak wood is used for the frame, plywood for the seat and backrest, and cotton cord for the swinging parts. The rough cord creates friction with the wood, which keeps the movement controlled and safe.
The Swing Chair Seating by Jiangying Guo has been highlighted as an outstanding example of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. The Swing Chair Seating earned the Iron A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2022. The A' Furniture Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design prize which celebrates excellent design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
