ZENustas
ZENustas is a hair salon located in Yaizu, near Mount Fuji in Japan. The 80 square meter interior is composed mainly of two materials: MDF with a dark wood finish and white washable wallpaper, separated by a horizontal line at table height. A backlit feature wall in polycarbonate holds plants and gives a contemporary interpretation of traditional Japanese rice paper facades. The feature wall also improves the light reaching customers seated in front of the mirrors. Freestanding short walls with oriented mirrors increase the number of stations and guide the customer flow.
ZENustas Hair Salon by Lorena Antea Caruana was highlighted as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. ZENustas Hair Salon was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design competition that recognizes outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
