Familial
Familial is a wooden chair designed for use by both children and adults. A simple motion turns the chair over and converts it into a second configuration. One piece of furniture therefore serves two age groups, which saves space and reduces the amount of material required. The geometry and the angles of the chair were refined to keep the seat ergonomic and comfortable. Familial responds to the smaller living spaces of crowded cities, where multi-purpose furniture is useful. The design balances appearance and function.
Familial Chair by Amirhassan Arefipour has been selected as an outstanding illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Familial Chair won the Bronze A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2022. The A' Furniture Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design award which recognizes exceptional design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
