Origami Science
Origami Science is a reception center inspired by the appearance of folded white paper. The project consists of three staggered buildings that hold an introduction area, a sales area and a sample house area. The exterior walls are finished with half-cut PVC pipes to suggest folded paper, and the interior flooring is made of artificial terrazzo tiles. Large light-transmitting surfaces face the adjacent park, reducing the need for light fixtures. An aisle with traditional Chinese paper-cut art links the three buildings and recalls the past of the site.
Origami Science Reception Center by Jheng-Syuan Hong was featured as a grand example of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Origami Science Reception Center won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design competition which honors superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
