Xu Wei
Xu Wei is an art museum interior in Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, China, with an area of 8,000 square meters. The design unites architecture, interior and display space in one scheme. A transparent ground floor links the exhibition halls on both sides with the north and south squares. Internal courtyards divide the exhibition areas and increase transparency. Elements are simplified into white geometric forms, so light, shadow and landscape views remain the focus. Veneers were polished and coated on site to obtain a clean white surface similar to traditional rice paper.
Xu Wei Art Museum by U A D has been selected as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Xu Wei Art Museum earned the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design prize that celebrates exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
