Awakening
Awakening is a dental clinic in Zhongli District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. The interior covers three floors and includes reception, rest and consulting areas, treatment rooms, a sterilization room and an office area. Metal, stone, wood and a large number of indoor plants form the main materials. Wide marble sections and rough rock surfaces contrast with warm wood, recalling the slow growth of early plant life on Earth. Patient and staff routes are separated to protect privacy and reduce cross infection. The design replaces the cold white medical space with a calm natural environment.
Awakening Dental Clinic by Lieh-Wei Liu has been identified as a creative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Awakening Dental Clinic received the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design accolade which recognizes excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
