The Mask
The Mask is a cafe interior located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The design is inspired by the colorful masks of the Venice Carnival in Italy. The concept connects Venice and Jeddah, two cities that share several cultural and geographical similarities. A luxurious black and gold scheme forms the background for decorative masks brought from Venice and placed on the walls, where visitors take photographs. The indoor area covers about 300 square meters and the outdoor area about 180 square meters. The interior has one floor with a height of 4 meters.
The Mask Cafe by Mea'ad Al-Abboud was highlighted as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. The Mask Cafe earned the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition that honors excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
