Wabi Sabi
Wabi Sabi is a residential interior design for a home of 100 square meters in Taichung City, Taiwan. The plan is horizontal, and a slightly raised floor separates the living room from the dining room. Solid walls are avoided, so daylight reaches deep into the interior. Grayscale paints extend across the walls and ceilings, and the wall finishes are applied by hand with a trowel for a simple, recessed feel. The home contains an entrance, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Doors sit flush with the walls to keep the space calm.
Wabi Sabi Residential House by Miles Tseng has been recognized as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Wabi Sabi Residential House was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design prize that honors exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
