Starry Night
Starry Night is a glowing orchid created through a biotechnology process. The orchid glows in the dark after high-entropy oxides that comply with European Union standards are absorbed through the leaf veins. No genetic modification is used. The petals show a designed pattern of light at night without any additional light source, recalling a starry sky. Several luminous colors are displayed. The plant measures 250 mm in width, 250 mm in length and 500 mm in height. The intent is to offer a calm and relaxing viewing experience.
Starry Night Orchids by Yen-Hsun Su was highlighted as an exceptional illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Starry Night Orchids won the Bronze A' Design Award in Product Engineering and Technical Design in 2023. The A' Product Engineering and Technical Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design award that celebrates excellent design of blueprints, prototypes, schematics, CAD models, technical drawings, machine designs, electronic systems, structural plans and more.
