Zao from Xinghua Village
Zao from Xinghua Village is a packaging design for Chinese liquor. The illustrated main pattern shows the process of growing wheat and turning it into liquor. The Chinese character for the series name is combined with European Gothic letterforms. Slender lines and decorative patterns link tradition with modern design. The label uses a silver pressed process with fine lines, and the box uses UV dark lines that can be felt by touch. The transparent bottle shows the clear color of the liquor. The design aims to present Chinese liquor to younger people and to people of different cultures.
Zao from Xinghua Village Liquor Package by Chunyang Wang has been highlighted as an outstanding illustration of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Zao from Xinghua Village Liquor Package earned the Silver A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2023. The A' Packaging Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design award that rewards outstanding design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
