Chenglong Wetland
Chenglong Wetland is an environmental art event held in Yunlin, Taiwan. In Chenglong Village, over-extraction of groundwater caused land subsidence and seawater intrusion in farmlands, which formed a wetland. Since 2010, artists from Taiwan and abroad have worked with residents to build installation artworks from local materials. In 2022, a flowing feast of art moved performance art into the natural environment, and an eco-dining table served dishes made from local seasonal ingredients. The event raises attention to environmental issues and supports the local economy.
Chenglong Wetland Environmental Art Event by Yunlin County Government was identified as a creative example of service design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Chenglong Wetland Environmental Art Event won the Silver A' Design Award in Event and Happening Design in 2024. The A' Event and Happening Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which celebrates outstanding design of trade fairs, award ceremonies, festivals, conferences, exhibitions, concerts, product launches, charity events and more.
