Memories of the East Street in Xi'an
Memories of the East Street in Xi'an is a book that records the history and daily life of East Street, a main street of the city of Xi'an. The book is divided into three units and a separate leaflet, and includes hand-drawn illustrations, architectural mapping, trademark advertisements, documentary photographs and copies of newspapers. Interviews, old objects and collected images together form a civic archive of the street. Several printing methods are applied, among them embossing and silver printing, to recall the marks of past decades.
Memories of the East Street in Xi'an Book by Qun Song was featured as a grand example of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Memories of the East Street in Xi'an Book was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Print and Published Media Design in 2024. The A' Print and Published Media Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award which celebrates excellent design of brochures, posters, magazines, catalogs, flyers, business cards, billboards, books and more.
