Starry Gaze
Starry Gaze is a wedding banquet hall in Wuhan, China, designed for both young couples and their parents. The hall combines modern and traditional styles to suit the tastes of different generations. Lighting changes and adjustable installations allow the space to shift between a simple modern setting and a traditional Chinese wedding venue. A crystal pavilion hangs from the ceiling, with varying heights and a layered form inspired by the pointed roofs of ancient Chinese buildings. Mortise and tenon joints are used to form a stable structure.
Starry Gaze Wedding Banquet Hall by James Lai has been identified as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Starry Gaze Wedding Banquet Hall won the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2024. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design award that honors outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
