Gushu
The design employs various approaches such as materials contrast, block insertion, and folding panel combinations to visualize an integrated and compact building form and express the relationship between architectural function and form. Additionally, elements such as facade openings, partly elevated floors, sky gardens, and grilles are used to adapt to Lingnan's hot and rainy weather. The square and forceful architectural form portrays the Gushu Fire Station as a solemn and calm guard.
Gushu Fire Station by SUIADR was recognized as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Gushu Fire Station received the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2024. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design accolade which honors superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
