Red House
Red House is an art installation created for a lantern festival in Taipei. The work forms a tunnel corridor of eight sides, built from stainless steel pipe and laser cut metal sheets. Each side carries carved images of the Ximending area placed in chronological order, starting with the Red House building of 1908. Computer controlled LED lights illuminate the panels and brighten the street. Fluorocarbon baking paint protects the surfaces for long term display. Visitors walk through the corridor and read the history of the city through pictures rather than text.
Red House Exhibition by CHIH LIANG LIU has been highlighted as a creative example of communication design by the A' Design Award. Red House Exhibition earned the Silver A' Design Award in Fine Arts and Art Installation Design in 2024. The A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design award that recognizes excellent design of sculptures, paintings, installations, photographs, drawings, mixed media works, ceramics, art objects, craftworks and more.
