LuxLinea
Lux Linea is an ophthalmology clinic in the Shibuya district of Tokyo, Japan. The clinic covers a gross built area of 250 square meters and has a floor plan shaped as a right trapezoid. Two sides are fully glazed, and bright daylight creates reflections that hide the interior. Illuminated transparent panels answer this problem. The panels are acrylic sheets printed with straight lines and lit at the edges by LED tape. Mirrors on the ceiling and walls repeat the light lines. The panels placed beside the waiting chairs also give patients privacy.
LuxLinea Ophthalmology Clinic by Tetsuya Matsumoto was selected as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. LuxLinea Ophthalmology Clinic received the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2024. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design accolade that recognizes excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
