Chirp Peek
This outdoor installation connects urban communities with local wildlife by combining a periscope and bird feeder, allowing users to observe birds without disturbing them. It engages the public through playful, educational elements, raising awareness of urban wildlife and addressing species loneliness. Designed with minimal moving parts for durability and low maintenance, the installation fosters respect for nature. Feedback from experts and park-goers was gathered to refine the concept and assess its environmental impact.
Chirp Peek Outdoor Installation by Meiqing Tian was featured as an innovative example of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Chirp Peek Outdoor Installation received the Iron A' Design Award in Playground Equipment, Play Structures and Public Park Design in 2025. The A' Playground Equipment, Play Structures and Public Park Design Award is a highly prestigious international design prize which celebrates exceptional design of swing sets, slides, climbing structures, seesaws, Merry-Go-Rounds, sandboxes, jungle gyms, balance beams and more.
