Haidongqing
Haidongqing is a gas detection drone designed for industrial monitoring and emergency response. The form takes inspiration from the diving posture of an eagle, with lines that suggest speed. A modular structure holds gas sensors and a real-time data transmission system. The body is made with three-dimensional printing, computer controlled precision machining and carbon fiber composite molding, which keeps the drone light and strong. The drone measures 480 mm in width, 400 mm in length and 100 mm in height. A handheld device controls flight, while a display and alarm system report gas levels.
Haidongqing Gas Detection Drones by Mingxi Li was highlighted as a grand example of strategy design by the A' Design Awards. Haidongqing Gas Detection Drones earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Futuristic Design in 2025. The A' Futuristic Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design accolade which celebrates outstanding design of conceptual architectures, advanced robotics, innovative transportation systems, futuristic fashion designs, progressive furniture pieces, Next-Gen electronic gadgets, revolutionary software interfaces, groundbreaking biotech innovations and more.
