Tianmianshang
Tianmianshang is a pavilion located in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province. The pavilion stands behind an orange grove and offers a calm place to rest in nature. The design questions the usual distinction between floor, roof and ceiling, and between inside and outside. Undulating floor and roof surfaces form several threshold spaces. Four main walls are joined by two irregularly placed concrete walls and concrete columns, which blur spatial boundaries and add layers to the interior. The roof is a single lightweight steel structure with clean lines.
Tianmianshang Pavilion by jintao li was selected as an exceptional illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Tianmianshang Pavilion earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2025. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which rewards exceptional design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
