Nagisa Bakery
Nagisa Bakery is a bakery interior in Osaka, Japan. The spatial composition expresses the themes of shore and sea through designs and colors that emphasize lines. Baguette bread is displayed like surfboards, propped against corrugated slate, a material commonly used for the roofs of beach huts. Eight shades of blue paint are applied to the ceiling to create the effect of louvers. Existing equipment and fixtures were reused, which reduced waste and construction costs. Distinct materials set the display area apart and draw attention to the products.
Nagisa Bakery Interior Space by Katsunori Nagai has been identified as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Nagisa Bakery Interior Space was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2025. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition that rewards excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
