The Art of Community
The Art of Community is a public space design within a residential development in Taichung City, Taiwan. The shared areas include a six-meter-high lobby that opens to a planted courtyard, an art corridor and a living kitchen. Glazing of 3.3 meters brings natural light and airflow into the interior. Minimalist concrete is combined with warm wood, while soft organic curves replace hard angles, most visibly in the curved wooden architecture of the library. The formal lobby counter was removed to create a seamless flow to the courtyard and to encourage interaction among residents.
The Art of Community Public Space by Da-yi Construction and Development was highlighted as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. The Art of Community Public Space was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2026. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design prize which honors superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
