Black Tulip
The traditionally cylindrical-shaped Turkish coffee cup is redesigned to have a cubic shape. Instead of protruding, the cup handles are integrated into the cubic form of the cup. A square-shaped saucer with a cavity to hold the cup and prevent it from slipping complements the overall design. One corner of the saucer is curved up slightly to simplify picking it up. Downward curvature of the tray corner when the saucer is placed on the tray creates a visual impression of a tulip. The tray also has cavities on which saucers are placed, which help with carrying and serving.
Black Tulip Turkish Coffee Set by Bora Yıldırım has been selected as a creative illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Award. Black Tulip Turkish Coffee Set received the Bronze A' Design Award in Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design in 2017. The A' Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program that recognizes outstanding design of pots, pans, cutlery, plates, bowls, glasses, baking dishes, graters and more.
