Transparent Summer
Transparent Summer is a residential interior design for a 90 square meter apartment in Taipei. A central cube, inspired by an ice cube, stands in the middle of the plan and links the living room with the dining area. The dining table is placed at the center, so the living area feels larger. Iron pieces and open shelves form the walk-in closet, and glass doors visually extend the bedroom. Materials include wooden tiles, plated metal and glass. The living room has no ceiling; a beam carries the lighting and hides the air conditioning and power pipes.
Transparent Summer Residential Space by stephen chen was highlighted as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Transparent Summer Residential Space earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious international design prize which rewards superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
