Wood and Tree
Wood and Tree is a poster created for an architecture seminar held in Tokyo, Japan. The seminar theme is the new use of wood, a classic material, in modern architecture. The poster uses a modern graphic language to simulate a classic drawing of tree rings. Lines of varied number, thickness, curvature and color were tested to form the pattern. The result is mathematical in structure, yet natural beauty remains. The poster measures 210 by 297 millimeters. It was displayed at an entrance, where visitors could take small flyers.
Wood and Tree Poster by YU ZHUANG was identified as a grand illustration of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Wood and Tree Poster earned the Silver A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2020. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design award that recognizes superior design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
