Sense Move Costume

Sense Move

Sense Move is a light emitting costume designed for dancers. The costume folds into geometric shapes that follow the movement of the body, forming a kinetic sculpture on stage. Light effects express changing emotions. A slow fade suggests breathing, and a flash suggests excitement. A sensing glove is included as part of the costume. When a member of the audience touches the hand of the dancer, the light changes in response to the touch. The design aims to strengthen the emotional connection between performers and viewers.

Sense Move Costume by Zhulin Shi was highlighted as a creative example of fashion design by the A' Design Award. Sense Move Costume earned the Silver A' Design Award in Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design in 2020. The A' Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design prize which recognizes excellent design of runway collections, dresses, suits, skirts, outerwear, jackets, apparel, garments and more.
