Dream On
Dream On is a bar interior located in Yilan City, Taiwan. The narrow rectangular room of 72 square meters is turned into an indoor street scene inspired by the painting The Cafe Terrace on the Place du Forum by Van Gogh. Reflective light sources, decorative windows, frames and balconies suggest a bright street at night, supported by a retro color palette with bluish green tones. About 80 percent of the materials are local and many are recycled. The walls are given an uneven surface to reduce echo, so conversation stays clear.
Dream On Bar by Hsiang Hsieh has been highlighted as an outstanding example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Dream On Bar won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design prize which honors excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
