Light Weaving
Light Weaving is an outdoor lighting installation shaped as a Christmas tree. The structure is made of laser cut stainless steel pipes forming 80 triangle units joined by more than 240 welded points. Acrylic yarn is woven by hand over the metal frame, following the weaving techniques of the indigenous people of Taiwan. Computer controlled LED lights and a light sensor adjust the colors to a timing system and to natural light, and the tone stays blue at midnight. The design brings delicate woven craft outdoors for public viewing.
Light Weaving Installation Art by CHIH LIANG LIU has been identified as an outstanding illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Light Weaving Installation Art was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Lighting Products and Fixtures Design in 2020. The A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award is a highly prestigious international design recognition program which rewards excellent design of chandeliers, pendant lights, wall sconces, table lamps, floor lamps, outdoor lights, recessed lights, track lights and more.
