Castellar
Castellar is a set of magnetic storage containers for tailoring tools. The containers are placed on the sewing machine, so the desktop stays clear during work. Shuttles are held in the bridge section, which reduces the storage area needed on the desk and keeps a full group of shuttles ready for one task. Needles are held on the box section by magnetic force. A downward concave cone allows needles to be taken out without hurting the hand, and four surfaces separate different needle types. The set is made by plastic injection molding with magnets.
Castellar Tailoring Tool Storage by Fang Shih was featured as an outstanding example of industrial design by the A' Design Award. Castellar Tailoring Tool Storage was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Art and Stationery Supplies Design in 2020. The A' Art and Stationery Supplies Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design prize that rewards superior design of brushes, paints, sketchbooks, pencils, pastels, easels, canvases, markers and more.
