Future is Now
Future is Now is an event space in Taipei created to share ideas about sustainable living and the circular economy. The interior uses second-hand wooden pallets, cleaned and sanded for safety, as vertical planters by the windows and as movable modular seating. A large ceiling installation is made from recycled film taken from an LED screen. Construction followed a low-landfill approach, and most waste was sorted for recycling. All elements are reused or recycled after the program. The space measures 11.2 by 16 meters, with a ceiling height of 3 meters.
Future is Now Living Lab by Daisuke Nagatomo and Minnie Jan has been selected as an exceptional representation of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Future is Now Living Lab was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Sustainable Products, Projects and Green Design in 2020. The A' Sustainable Products, Projects and Green Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which honors excellent design of sustainable projects, environment friendly designs, recycled, upcycled, bio-degradable products, Energy-Efficient appliances and more.
