Jane
Jane is a packaging design for a foldable mobile phone. The design references bamboo and wooden slips, an ancient Chinese book form, and uses traditional Chinese letterforms. The box is made entirely of special paper with a wood and fabric texture, without plastic or other materials. The user manual wraps around the outer surface and is held in place by magnets. The manual can be detached and rolled up. The box opens with a tab, and the products inside are arranged in separate layers. The packaging measures 198 by 192 by 47 millimeters.
Jane Foldable Phone Packaging by Ethan Zhang was highlighted as an exceptional example of communication design by the A' Design Award. Jane Foldable Phone Packaging was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2020. The A' Packaging Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award which recognizes exceptional design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
